Barbara Perla Whitcomb
As founder and CEO of Pearls of Life Foundation,Inc. Barbara understands the importance of transitional support and planning. Therefore, she has established The Foundation as a nonprofit organization, with the purpose of being a process and a solution, not just a service. Barbara is a resident and business owner in Western New York who recognizes the various changes and needs of diverse communities and is prepared to help meet these challenges.
While maintaining her role as high school teacher in the City of Buffalo, Barbara was also credited for successfully instructing individuals from over 40 countries in transitional planning, remedial, tutorial, enrichment and job-readiness programs earning her opportunities to present at educational conferences. She holds degrees in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Business Management, Paralegal Studies with associated specialties. Her Masters Degree is in Bilingual Special Education.
Barbara created the foundation by incorporating her work, educational and life experiences. She openly shares her own major economic, social and emotional transitional stages including travel and study abroad, career changes, academic demands, the deaths of her daughter and husband, and other life-altering situations. Barbara personally demonstrates that with determination, education, motivation and help from family and friends people can transform challenge into opportunity.
